Current Volunteer Needs

Volunteering in our T.R.A.D.E classes is a wonderful way to enhance and refine one’s teaching skills, as well as gain new friends. Our students come from different backgrounds but all yearn to keep up with the rapid evolution of technology. There are no schooling requirements for volunteers, just a love for helping others. Volunteers undergo a free background check prior to starting, and we document your hours here. Volunteers sit in on TRADE classes to assist in answering questions, to support students in surfing the internet, and to challenge students to take initiative. Volunteers aid in creating lesson plans with the staff. Our 2014 focus for lesson plans is on Islands; we focus on different islands each week and create Word documents, Powerpoints, and Excels about them. We offer morning and afternoon TRADE classes that vary in hours and students’ needs. The morning class is for our students who are serious about job placement, and the afternoon class is for our students who are really just looking to enhance their computer skills.
